Palazzo Lambardi
OWNED BY THE NOBLE GHIBELLINE LAMBARDI FAMILY, THIS BUILDING IS THE FUSION OF MULTIPLE COURT HOUSES FROM 13TH AND 15TH CENTURY, IT IS ENRICHED WITH A HISTORIC GARDEN IN THE MOST PRIVATE PART OF IT.
ITS 16TH CENTURY SETTING MAKES PALAZZO LAMBARDI ONE OF THE FEW PIECES OF BAROQUE HERITAGE IN AREZZO.
THE BUILDING HAD A STRONG PERSONALITY FROM ITS BEGINNING: THE WOODEN CEILINGS AND THE FRESCOES WERE A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION FOR VINCENZO DE COTIIS ARCHITECTS STUDIO, WHO DEVELOPED THE PROJECT OF RENOVATION AND SET-UP FOR THE MULTIBRAND STORE SUGAR.
THE RESTAURATION WORKS AIMED TO BRING OUT THE HISTORY OF THE BUILDING, REVEALING THE ORIGINAL DECORATIONS HIDDEN BY THE DIFFERENT LAYERS THROUGH THE YEARS: WALLS AND CEILINGS HAVE BEEN CLEANED AND LEFT IN THEIR RUINOUS CONDITION TO SHOW THEIR PAST.
PALAZZO LAMBARDI CREATES A HARMONIOUS AND ATTRACTIVE INTERPLAY BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT HANDCRAFTED MATERIALS: FIBERGLASS, RECYCLED WOOD, VELVET, MIRRORS AND SILVER-PLATED GLASS. THESE MATERIALS ARE OUR DNA, THEY WANT TO PUT TOGETHER THE HISTORY WITH THE MODERNITY THROUGH A GAME OF CONTRASTS.
SUGAR GALLERY
TWO MOSAIC FLOORS IN EXCELLENT STATE OF PRESERVATION WERE DISCOVERED IN THE BUILDING, THEY ARE OPEN TO VISITORS. THEY BELONGED TO THE FRIGIDARIUM THERMAL AREA OF A LUXURY ROMAN DOMUS FROM 1ST CENTURY THAT MAKE THIS COMPLEX AN IMPORTANT PIECE OF AREZZO ARCHEOLOGICAL HISTORY.
